INSPIRATIONAL THOUGHT
Quote from "You are That! Satsang with Gangaji"
***
Could you say something about how to live in simplicity?
What is it you really want? Not what you have been told that you want, and not what you think you should want, but what do you really want?
I want to be able to relax.
Wonderful. So relax. (Laughter) Yes, like that! Easily, immediately. Laughter is the best method of relaxation. No one has to teach you how to laugh.
(More laughter)
That’s perfect! It is the perfect, immediate yoga of relaxation. In this relaxation, what do you realize?
I feel an openness. Do I just come back to this every time I lose it?
The image or thought of leaving, is the tensing of the mind. Obviously, the tensing of the mind is a strong habit that has been supported by family and teachers and culture for quite a long, time.
When this habit arises, relax. In openness, there is no limit. Everything that is searched for in efforting with the mind is revealed in opening the mind.
This is a great secret, a great irony. All of the searching, all of the struggling, all of the efforting to find your true Self, is naturally revealed in open simplicity. Keep laughing. There is no time to complicate matters when you are laughing.
Physical relaxation is very agreeable, and obviously, if you physically relax, there is also some mental relaxation. For deeper mental relaxation, recognize that following a thought takes some effort, some attention.
Do not drift into a trance or fall asleep. Recognize where deep sleep and absolute wakefulness meet. Usually in wakefulness we are conditioned to follow thought, "It is time to get up, time to remember ‘me’ and ‘my story’; what I am supposed to do, what I didn’t do, and what I should do better."
This dialog is usually called the waking state. In the deep sleep state all of that conversation is finished. There is no "me." There are no relationships. Bringing these two states together rests the mind while remaining alert. Reveal your Self to your Self as needing no thought to be, no name to be, no form to be.
I am pointing to Intelligence itself in full potential, awake to itself. When attention is free and open, mind cannot veil Source.
